Passenger Assistant for SEN school transport
Rate of pay: £10.42 per hour, plus holiday pay pro rata.
Start date: ASAP, following successful completion of training and a DBS check, all paid for by Amvale.

Job Purpose and Overview
The role of a passenger assistant is to accompany children whilst being transported by Amvale to and from school.
A passenger assistant will normally be working split shifts eg. morning and afternoon, timetabled around school start and finish times.
We guarantee of minimum of 16 hours per week of work, on a regular school contract. You will be picked up from your home by our driver and returned home after each journey.
Duties and Responsibilities
· To be responsible for the care and conduct of children being transported to/from school, ensuring they are at all times properly and safely supervised.*
· To assist children in boarding vehicles, disembarking only where appropriate and where required.**
· To ensure all passengers are safely seated.**
· To ensure the proper handover of children upon arrival at their destination, where appropriate and required.**
· To report any problems, incidents or usual occurrences at the first opportunity.**
· To ensure that personal property in possession of the children is both safely secured and transported with the individual when necessary.**
· To maintain an accurate register of passengers being transported, confidentially managing information such as names, telephone numbers and addresses together with a record of attendance.**
· To accurately observe the timetables implemented by Amvale in conjunction with the driver.**
· To be confident working with a variety of mobility equipment including walking aids and wheelchairs**
· To be able to work with children who may present challenging behaviour and / or additional medical needs.*
